The strongest evening scenes are along the Jinjiang River, where warm bridge lights, riverside buildings, restaurant windows, and water reflections create a slower urban atmosphere. Start with Jinjiang River and Anshun Bridge
Begin around the Jinjiang River before full darkness if photos matter. The water gives the route its rhythm, and Anshun Bridge is easiest to photograph when the sky still has a little color. Stand far enough back to include the bridge, both banks, and the reflection instead of shooting only the building on the bridge.
Add Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road
After the river section, move toward Taikoo Li or Chunxi Road for a brighter city-night mood. This part is busier, more commercial, and better for people, shopfronts, signage, and street-level light. The contrast works well because the route moves from a calm riverside view into Chengdu's modern retail core.

Use the river as your first foreground. A simple composition with water, bridge arches, and skyline lights will usually work better than a tight crop. For Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road, switch to vertical frames and include layers of signs, pedestrians, and building edges. Keep the camera small in crowded sections and avoid blocking shop entrances or pedestrian crossings.
Best time to go
Blue hour is best for the river because the reflection stays visible and the bridge does not disappear into a black background. Full darkness is better for Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li because shopfronts, screens, and restaurant lights become stronger. If the weather is hazy or rainy, use closer bridge and street angles instead of forcing a distant skyline photo.
